There has been a lot of misinformation about the new plates, bottom line is the plates will still be bear-shaped, BUT they'll be an inch wider and taller (previously 4x7, now 5x8), if you have an enclosed plate holder this will affect you.  Also, if you have a personalized plate, it will cost you another $25 to get it again in the new format.
