Road information

Visit the GNWT's Drive NWT website for Road Info, Ferry Info, Tourism, cameras etc.  It is highly recommended that you visit this site before planning your trip.  Here's a link to the Explorer's Map, you'll want to note the rest stops and distances between gas stations (316km from Fort Providence to Yellowknife).  The Mackenzie River Bridge is open so the ferry is no longer an issue there, but be careful on the 'cattle gates' and watch for bison!

Most gas stations have a Facebook page with current info. (Indian Cabins, Gateway, Big River)

To get detailed driving directions to Yellowknife, see the Google map above.
Or check out this detailed list of gas stops page.

See the Drive Alive 'Watch Out For Bison' brochure here.

Camping?

If you're planning to camp in a Territorial campground while you're here, check out this website: http://nwtparks.ca/campgrounds
